Alternate to recreate!
BY: Miranda Rosaio

Have you ever considered an alternative calendar, one where instead of having summer, we have four breaks, each averaging 2 or more weeks? Often enough, people have told me, “Get rid of summer!? Why on earth would you want to do that?” To be completely honest, I think an alternative calendar would be a better idea. The idea is to get a higher student out put. It’s made so you do better in school (and we get better vacation time too!)
With an alternative calendar, you wouldn’t have the problem of forgetting things over the summer; people forget most of the things they learned in the previous year. Kids go back to school and can spend a month trying to re-learn what they forgot. With a two or more week break, kids will forget less. Reports from the California State Department of Education show that standardized test scores increased an average increase of 13.3% in reading scores after year round schooling. Some schools have already switched.
With a summer break kids from Delaware, can only do summer activities unless they travel to a place Siberia. With an alternative calendar, we can take a skiing trip on the winter break, or go to the beach on the summer break. It would allow more flexibility. Most of the time families can’t go on a trip because they don’t want their kids to miss any school. With an alternative calendar, you could take a trip in any season you want!
This alterative calendar won’t change the number of days of school either. You will still have 180 days of school. You will also still have all of the half days and days off. This new calendar is a much better plan. Kids will do better in school and breaks will be more enjoyable. So come on, lets alternate to recreate!

Spore
By: Miranda R.

Have you ever played a game, where the main character is funny looking or their clothes are completely out of whack? Have you ever thought ‘Hey, if I created the characters, they would be way cooler’? Well have I got some news for you! In the PC game Spore, you can! In the beginning, you get to create your own creature. With the many parts they give you, you get to customize your creature. Choose your mouth legs eyes and so on. Once you have completed it, you give it a name and begin your game.
You start of slow, on your home planet filled with other of your kind. As you progress, your people ‘evolve’ and change over time. You conquer and defeat enemies, and gain allies, who help in battle. The point of the game is to be the best military leader and conquer the world. Also, you can customize your plane ( which you use to fly a round the galaxy. If you’re not into world domination, you can also build a house or car!

Naruto: clash of the ninja revolution 2
By: curly
If you’ve played clash of the ninja revolution, you should know some of what to expect from number 2. You can play with the wii remote and nun chuck, or get old school and play with the GameCube controller. Either way, you see some awesome fight scenes. It is the same deal, up to four players at a time and plenty of flashy combos and special attacks, but with a few twists (tag team fighting!!!)

There’s also a brand new storyline written for the North American audience, Featuring plenty of characters never seen in any of the clash of the ninja series, Some totally original, Created by the dev team themselves( don’t worry there totally legit- they have been certified by the official guardians of Naruto lore.

Counting the built from scratch originals, revolution 2 also adds 15 new characters (WOOHOO!!!!) on top of the original 20, bringing us to the grand total of 35. Conveniently enough, you won’t have to try out each character one at a time, as tag teaming makes its debut in Revolution 2. You can tag in a partner to make your attacks longer or make stronger combo’s.

Also, some characters can use paper bombs, (a quite enjoyable feature, who doesn’t like a good explosion?). They can be used as mines or just thrown on the ends of dagger, either way, its good, not so clean, fun. The other characters can defuse mines (which comes in handy if you are fighting a psycho, bomb obsessed ninja).

Over all, it is going to be smoother, cleaner and more enjoyable fighting experience for all( and you can get some exercise too, double bonus!)
