Wii: worth it anymore?

You’ve probably heard of the Wii, right? The Wii used to be the coolest new System on the block, but the power might be shifting. Its top competitor, the PS3 or play station three, was originally too expensive for most people to afford; at a price of $599, it just wasn’t worth it. Now, Sony has lowered the price to only $299. Originally, the Wii was $246, which was a reasonable price for the average family, but now that the PS3 has moved into a reasonable price range, it might just steal the crown away from the Wii.

The Wii revolutionized gaming. Being the first truly interactive gaming system, Nintendo had scored major points. Stores couldn’t even keep it on the shelves it was selling so fast. Then, up crept new systems; including the x-box 360 elite, and the ever impressive PS3. The thought behind the PS3 is amazing. Its graphics are much better, you can download games, and all serious gamers agree, the PS3, can’t be compared to the Wii.

In a recent poll, these were the results:
Out of 24 people, The Wii had 11 votes, and the PS3 had 5, the rest were neutral. This poll means that the Wii is still respected as the top system, but most of the people that voted for the Wii, had either never played the PS3, or were only towards the Wii a little.

In truth, the Wii’s reign didn’t last long, but it is still at the top for now. If the Wii hopes to keep its crown though, it needs to either make a new game that everyone wants that is only available to the Wii, or it needs to modify its system to run better graphics. Any way this fight goes, at least the Wii will still have its title: the first truly interactive gaming system.
